Build to Sail through

Building a majestic vessel has always been a task at hand for man, ever since man built his first boat he has only imagined it to be more bigger, swifter and worth much more than the resources that he took to build it.

The current scenario in ship design dictates the art to be highly systematic and very methodical. Starting from the basics one needs to do the initial Preliminary GA, midship section designing, stability calculations along with the proper selection of Steel weight and major equipment selection.

Ship Design

Sailing vessels are of various types and are categorized according to the type of use they would be used for. Ranging from Tankers, bulk carriers, container carriers, dredgers, tugs, Pilot launches and inland vessels; Each vessel needs not only a basic design but also specific class drawings, outfit drawings and Statutory drawings. A typical class drawing would include Structure, Machinery & Piping and Electricals. An Outfit drawing would exhibit Machinery & Deck fittings. Statutory drawing should contain the Load line plan.

Ship design is a job segregated in various stages of Detail production Drawings commencing from Hull followed by Machinery and Piping leading to Electricals, HVAC, and lastly for Outfit

Miscellaneous aspects such as Linear/Non Linear Stress analysis of various steel structures, static & dynamic loading, vibration analysis heat transfer analysis along with analysis for crack propagation and structures undergoing large deformation are also an important routine in Ship building.

Various design engineering tools assist a designer would be of the likes of Tribon, Nupus & Cadmatic, Ship Constructor. Ansys & Hyper Mesh are the star software tools for Design Analysis.
